Hello and Happy Wednesday!! You’re receiving this email because you requested to be added to our political action workshop waitlist — thanks so much for your interest! Full details below…
JOIN CHELSEA & SPECIAL GUESTS FOR HOW TO STOP SCROLLING AND GET TO WORK!
Scrolling social media can leave us feeling anxious, depressed, and powerless – but we don’t have to engage that way. There’s actually a lot we can do, and none of it has to involve social media. Join TFD founder Chelsea Fagan along with a lineup of expert guests as they walk through how to take real political action without feeling overwhelmed.
This workshop will show you how to channel your energy into tangible steps, from local to national engagement, no matter how you prefer to take action. You’ll leave with a practical toolkit for turning your anxiety into real-world impact.
THIS WORKSHOP WILL FEATURE:
Maya Handa, progressive Democratic political strategist who most recently managed NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani's winning general election campaign
Chantella Mitchell from The New York Community Trust

TOPICS COVERED:
How to join an ongoing political campaign or action, and actually help (plus, how to choose the right ones to join).
How to get involved locally, including town halls, community board meetings, and local committees or nonprofits.
How to run for something, from someone who is currently running for US Congress as a working class candidate.
How to engage politically (and consume scary news) without sacrificing your mental health.
How to become a philanthropist at any budget, including picking the right causes and learning how to turn money into policy-driven change.

Maya Handa is a progressive Democratic political strategist who most recently managed NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani's winning general election campaign. Prior to her role on Mayor Mamdani's campaign, she worked as a management consultant, in international development and emergency response, and on Democratic campaigns at the national, state, and municipal levels across the country. She has a B.A. in Public Policy from the University of Chicago and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.
Gordon Chaffin (@gordonachaffin) is a dog walker running for Congress to represent Washington, D.C. (Delegate) building momentum toward the June 16, 2026, Democratic Primary. As a person working outside year round, pounding the pavement in a struggle to pay bills, he brings a perspective that can permanently fix the unreasonable costs of goods and services. In the 17 years Gordon has called the District home, his community volunteerism included the building and leadership of a nonprofit serving D.C.'s urban walk-bike trail, Friends of the Metropolitan Branch Trail. Chaffin has a Master of Public Policy degree, specializing in government budgets and taxes, from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from the University of Michigan.
Samantha Dalton (@sam.the.therapistt) is a therapist (LCSW), coach, and podcast host specializing in anxiety, burnout, and emotional resilience. She works with driven and ambitious women to build stronger boundaries, steadier nervous systems, and more sustainable success. Samantha co-hosts the podcast Nuance Needed, where she explores mental health and culture with practical, grounded insight. Her work on political and social stress focuses on helping people stay informed without becoming overwhelmed, and engaged without burning out.
Chantella Mitchell of New York Community Trust manages the Trust’s grantmaking for initiatives to increase and preserve affordable housing; connect all New Yorkers to economic opportunities, including well-paying jobs; and strengthen social work education and practice. Chantella serves as co-chair of the Change Capital Fund and the NYC Workforce Development Fund.
